Office lighting must be both energy efficient and provide high quality light.
In order to achieve that the lighting system must be equipped with the most energy efficient light sources, and the luminaires must be efficient. The lighting system must be equipped with a control system, which secures that the light is turned of when it isn´t needed.
A modern, high efficient lighting system can reduce the energy consumption with approximately 80% compared to a 30 years old lighting system.
Normally the lifetime of a luminaire is estimated to 20 years, and the estimated time of use is 50,000 hours.
A luminaire with an efficency of 70% and without lighting control will use 2,469 kWh during its lifetime, whereas a luminaire with an efficiency of 90% the consumption will be reduced to 1,976 kWh, 20% reduction.
In both cases, the consumption can be reduced with 50% by using modern lighting control systems.
